Firefox window opens then segments disappear leaving me with a translucent window using Windows 7. I removed and reinstalled the program with same results.
When I click to open Firefox I do receive the window but then almost immediately segments of the normal window start to disappear until I am left with a translucent window with no data and no response to a request by me other than allowing me to close the window with the icon in the top right corner. I removed Firefox with the Control Panel and reinstalled only to end up immediately with same scenario. I am using Windows 7 on an HP p6620f 2.80GHZ 64-bit System. Operation has been normal up until yesterday, 10-12-13, afternoon PDT.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

Try to disable transparency in Windows.
Right click in a free space on your desktop.
Left click on Personalization.
There are four options at the bottom of the screen, choose "Window Color and Appearance".
Select a border color
Uncheck: "Enable transparency"
