I have version 27.0. Every time I start Firefox it asks me to download the latest version (27.01) but then hangs forever trying to download it. Or if I try to update from the "About" menu, it says I have the latest version. Also, whenever another program opens a link, I have to manually switch to the Firefox window. It has always done this automatically in the past.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the disk image file to the desktop
