I have copied the thurderbird files from an XP computer. Installed Linux (Mint) and copied the contents of the old thunderbird files in the default file (.thunderbird/z6bcg0wt.default/Mail/pop3.kpnmail.nl), replacing the existing files. When I start Thunderbird it indicates that it is preparing a summary file ("samenvattingsbestand¨). However, the old mail content does not show up. Moreover, the inbox file and other files I copied now contains 0 bytes...

What do I do wrong.

Hi Matt,

I use a POP mail server: pop3kpnmail.nl.

Regards, M

(Meanwhile I checked the webmail inbox. This is empty too. However, I would still like to see the old contents and the various folders I created.)

Thanks Chris, However I only have the files that I copied from XP (on USB stick) and I copied them onto the PC which is now running Linux Mint. I made an account in Thunderbird (same email address/password). It created a new folder. I browsed until I found the folder where I had copied the contents and pointed to this folder. When I then opened TB it started by saying it was making a summary. It then showed an empty inbox. Moreover, When I then check the folder, the original files now show 0 bytes. So this does not work for me.

M.
