I receive my emails thru a Thunderbird but mail server is Verizon Outlook Express. I am not an IT geek; have Windows7 which works with just Outlook. Hope it explains the unclear....

With every due respect, I have no idea what problem you may have with Thunderbird and what you're trying to achieve.

Certainly not. Verizon is an ISP. Outlook Express is an (outdated) email client. None of them are mail servers.

I'm certain Windows 7 works with other email clients than Outlook. Thunderbird is just one example.
