I used to use aol but it got infected. I switched to mozilla many months ago. My computer just switched back to aol. The directions to reset, list things that will be kept. I assume the stories I've written are included----BUT IT DOESN'T SAY THAT. It then says everything else will be removed. I'm afraid to continue because I don't want to lose all the stuff I've written. Please clarify.

Your OpenOffice files usually would be saved in your Documents folder, or another convenient place. It is very unlikely that they are saved in Firefox's settings folder, which is hard to access. Based on those assumption, Firefox's Reset won't touch your documents.

Where do you save or post the stories you have written?

If they are created using an add-on and stored within your Firefox settings, then most likely they will be lost during the Reset.

If they are posted and stored on a web site, then the Reset should not affect them. But in case your login for that server gets lost in the process, make sure you know your login for the site.

Before doing a reset, could you describe the problem in a little more detail? If the problem is that AOL is your default browser (it opens automatically when you use a web page shortcut, Windows Favorite, or link in another program), you can switch that without doing a Reset. Try these articles:

If one browser is infected, unfortunately, the software that is doing that may affect other browsers. I write and save stuff with OPEN Office. I'm 74 and know so little about computers that most of the time I'm guessing at what the terms and directions mean.
