I really like Firefox - much more than Chrome. But then I noticed that Firefox performed not as good as Chrome. I am using the latest version of both browsers, created new profiles, and compared the RAM usage when only one tab with Gmail is opened.

While Chrome uses 83MB of RAM, Firefox uses 240MB of RAM. How can that be? How can I solve it? I would like to stay with Firefox.

After Resetting Firefox, are you actually experiencing performance issues with Firefox due to using more RAM or are you just seeing it using more RAM? Applications will want to use RAM if it's available, and using more RAM actually helps the application perform better.

You can do some things like make sure you update Windows, Update your graphics driver, etc. Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL
