Please know that I have followed the canned instructions. Clearing history does Not clear the misspelled web address or list of old bookmarks that drop down. Example: walmartmoaneycard.com. instead of walmartmoneycard.com. Another: 192.168.01 instead of 192.168.0.1. Are there files I can delete totally? Secondly, Is there a file to eliminate drop down bookmarks without losing them as a book mark. Is it necessary to remove the from the drop down one at a time? I have a lot of these, and some that don't exist any longer.

You may have switched on caret browsing.

You can toggle caret browsing on/off by pressing F7 (Mac: fn + F7).

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Accessibility: [ ] "Always use the cursor keys to navigate within pages"

Note that this is an accessibility feature of Firefox.

To get the bookmark favicons back you need to visit a bookmark to make Firefox retrieve the favicon or use an extension.

Does it at least work if you remove them manually?

Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop-down list:

  1. click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop-down list
  2. highlight an entry in the drop-down list with the mouse or cursor Down key
do not click the mouse or press the Enter key
  3. press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to delete the highlighted entry

You can delete the places.sqlite file to remove all history stored in the file. Firefox should rebuild the bookmarks automatically from a JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

Saved form data is stored in the formhistory.sqlite file.

I have a flashing cursor in the empty web page, clicking is to no avail. I did delete the places.sqlite file. I moved it to my desk top to save it in case I wanted to replace it. I tried to open it (using Microsoft Word Viewer) now it is stuck as a MWV file. Not so bright tonight. I lost my bookmark thumbnails and would like to have them back? Any chance that can happen? Also my profile did not make another places.sqlite file. The hope was that I would create correct auto fill addressed after I deleted the history of mis-entered ones. Any help will be appreciated.
