Pictures/graphics do not display after "show remote content" is selected. Why???, how is this fixed?

After opening a Email the graphics/pictures do not display. This does not happen in all mails with graphics. Even after I select the "show remote content" button they do not display. ALSO: in Emails that have been previously collected in my "collected Addresses" folder the graphics are not displaying. (this is upsetting as in one case I freely spend a lot of moolah with them). I have tried the show all content in the Account settings, I don't like it, I like the why it works with adding preferred addresses to my collected addresses folder. I also tried downloading the add-on (extension) to make mails show all content (whether I want it or not), did not seem to have any affect on the problem. FYI I am using Thunderbird 24.6.0 and it says I am "up to date" My ISP suggested I try changing my tracking preferences, that didn't work either.

Help > About Thunderbird check for new updates

If this is not working and will not update, uninstall the current version via Control Panel > Programs and Features Download and install current version, choose language preference and download for your OS here:

I did the above, uninstall & install new version. I am having the same problems, STILL!! Though now I have an annoying new irritation A two step button to show remote content. Why do people insist on fixing things that aren't broken??? Just to add more problems to the stack, Some photos do not display in Facebook, but you can click on the blank space and see the photo in the new window.

Still open to suggestions. Thank you.
