Thunderbird profile cannot be located, this is after I have been using the program for months?

Thunderbird was working fine for months then out of the blue I get the error message "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." Deleting the program and re-installing it has made no difference. Any suggestions?

Does your profile still exist? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird

What's the contents of profiles.ini?

These things typically don't happen out of the blue. Have you made any changes recently? Any other unusual things happening?

I followed your suggestions and the profile folder is empty. How do I reestablish my profile?

Another possibility would be that your anti-virus software did erase your entire profile. So check if there are any quarantined files. This doesn't seem very likely though.

I have no idea what happened to your profile. As said before, these kind of things don't happen out of the blue.

You can search your disk for the missing profile. If that doesn't turn up anything, your best bet would be a backup of your profile folder.
