Firefox updated. 33.0.3 Mozilia Firefox Yahoo edition 1.9 on Windows 7-Professional. Now the minimize/restore/close icons upper right display irratic.

The icons in the upper right for minimize/restore/close only display while I move the mouse over items on the screen. As soon as I move off them, the icons do not display. Moving the mouse where they were performs the function, but they are not displayed on the screen?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting. See also:
