When I opened Mozilla Firefox today, I noticed my browsing history was all deleted. I have kept my history stored for a long time in there and today all of it was gone, I had not deleted it but I'm wondering how it could have been deleted, my browsing history was stored for over 6 months and today all of it was gone! Is there a way to restore all the history back or not? Could it have been that the history was getting overfilled and it cleared itself? Thanks a lot!

If you haven't deleted the history yourself manually then a possible cause is that there has been a problem with the places.sqlite database file that stores bookmarks and history causing the history to get reset. For the bookmarks there are backup to restore the history, but there are no backups for the history. You would need a backup copy of the places.sqlite file to recover the history.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

Hey guys, thank you very much for your responses, I appreciate it. I have taken a look at the links and I got some good information from them, thank you for providing them. I wanted to add another thing, I have my setting so that Firefox will always remember the history so for the history to get all deleted without me manually deleting them kind of surprised me. Firefox history would never delete itself just because it has too many items in there right? One last question though, do you know how I can get a backup copy of the places.sqlite database file so that I can recover the history? Thanks very much in advance.

My solution was not found in Firefox, but in CCleaner. CCleaner Professional>Applications>Firefox Uncheck Internet Cache & Internet History Hope this helps.
