When I open the tabs of Firefox on my MacBook Pro (Yosemite) it causes it to freeze and the spinning ball appears. I have recently had quite a few problems with the spinning ball but this one is persistent.

Are you opening the new tab with a link, or the new tab button? What is your about:newtab page?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
