I use Adobe reader to print labels for my business. Every time I go to print a file it asks me what I want to do. I have adobe reader set as my default. I also have the box checked to do this automatically. I also have mozilla to use adobe reader in my mozilla options/applications/pdf.

Idk why it does this. I have to hit open, wait for the file to download, then the the adobe reader pops up, then I hit print and then my upc code prints.

I want to be able to hit print and skip the asking if I want to open with/save everytime.

Thanks

First check to make sure why preferences will not save: How to fix preferences that won't save

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and click Options (Preferences for Linux and Mac).
  2. In the Options (Preferences for Linux and Mac) tab (window for previous than 38.0 firefox version), select the Applications panel.
  3. In the Search field, type PDF. You should find Portable Document Format (PDF).
  4. On the right hand side you should find an Action column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose Preview in Firefox.

I might suggest to try this troubleshooting steps next:

Try to rename (or delete) the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all file actions.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

I deleted both of those files and that did not fix the problem. It still asks every time. Thanks though.

What is the origin of those label PDF files? IOW, what generates those PDF files - an online application? Or a locally installed application that uses Firefox as the interface for that application?

This can be caused by the content type that the server sends for these files. If that is a generic type and not a file type that is recognized then you get the download dialog.

You can use the Live Http Headers extension to check the content type in the HTTP response headers in case the Network monitor doesn't catch this request.

They are labels I am printing through Amazon's seller central. I need to print my own upc label. So, yes, an online application. Even though Adobe reader is open with the previous label I printed, it still continues to ask every time.
