Contacts are imported and stored as an address book. They are not imported into a Thunderbird mail account.

Formats you can import: .mab Text files (LDIF, .tab, .csv, .txt) vcard (.vcf)

You cannot import an Adobe Acrobat .csf file. See if you can export / save as one using different extension eg: .csv

then import: Tools > Import select ;address book' and click on next select eg: Text files (LDIF, .tab, .csv, .txt) and click on Next then check all fields map to Thunderbird fields

this should end up with a new address book in Address Books'
