Is there any way to have my contact pictures display in my inbox - this is easy in mail, outlook, yahoo, etc.

I have pictures associated with my contacts in the address book, but this does not show up in the inbox, I don't see a setting I can turn on. What's the point of putting a picture in the address book if it doesn't show in the inbox or message?

I have never understood the whole picture thing. But I am also unaware of any setting to use the image anywhere other than the address book.
