I log in to my email account and find that links in the email are not active. How can I activate links?

I log in to my regular email account open mail to show emails. When I read them, the "links" are not highlighted like ususal. Did I somehow turn off the links and de-activate them? How do I enable the links in my emails?

If the links were not flagged as links, or the message was sent in "Plain Text" format, no clickable links.
