I have the latest firefox version as well as the latest Flash player but still the videos are choppy and jerky. Youtube videos are just fine...it is only vimeo videos and the problem is DEFINITELY with firefox as they play just fine in internet explorer. Please help.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (3-bar Menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: 3-bar Menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

Ok, started firefox in safemode without addons and the video plays fine...go figure. So I guess that means one of the addons is interferring...now how do I tell which one. I can't enable them in the safe mode and when I start things up normally and disable all addons the video still plays choppy and jerky  :( So how do I figure out which addon is causing the problem?

Did you try to disable hardware acceleration?

No didn't try that yet...may have to do that in a bit...as turns out the addons wasn't entirely the problem as did the firefox restart...which strips them all and the video was still choppy and jerky...*sighs* Will let you all know what happens when I get a chance to try disabling the hardware acceleration *fingers crossed, hoping that solves the problem*
