I receive the following:

"The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer, and then restart Firefox to try again.

I have only one copy of Firefox (Version 50) installed on my laptop. No issues w/ my desktop.

Afraid to "refresh" Firefox and loose extensions, etc.

Suggestions please?

A security update just came out.

Try closing Firefox by Menu > File > Exit.

A Refresh will put the data in a folder on your Desktop called "Old Firefox Data" and there are steps to put that stuff back: Recover important data from an old profile

As for the updates, please first close Firefox in the Activity Monitor or Task Manager etc. Start Firefox and then try the update one more time. There was a new update sent out today 50.0.2.
