Running Firefox 53.0 tries to upgrade to 52.0.1

Every time Firefox starts it tries to upgrade to 52.0.1 - I did a fresh install to 53.0 but no change. I tried turning off auto update. No help it still tries to perform this update with no success in an endless loop.

Firefox always shows "Update Ready to Install" MAC Only SOLUTION: Remove /Users/<name>/Library/Caches/Mozilla/ which contained the directory /updates/Applications/Firefox/updates/

No such folder in my library. System Version: macOS 10.12.4 (16E195)
