I downloaded an Add On called Facebook Chat Downloader. But I am unfamiliar with Firefox. How do I run the Add On on the Chat thread I want to downoad? Where is the icon to click?

I assume I'm supposed to open the Facebook chat in Messenger, then click on the Add On, but I'm not sure. And I don't see an icon to click, and I don't know where the Add On downloaded to. Thanks!

Have you taken a look at   https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/faq   and scrolled down to the section : 'How do I install, manage, or remove an add-on  ?'

You mentioned that you don't see the icon : Would you take a look at the article   Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars You could try the Restore Defaults button at the bottom of the panel to clear existing customizations and see whether that icon comes out of hiding.

If that doesn't fix it,   maybe you could try to contact the developers of that add-on   ?

I assume that you're talking about the 'Facebook Chat Download' add-on   ? It has very bad reviews and has been marked as experimental by it's developers . Wouldn't you rather try to find another add-on   ?

But answers as to how to install an add-on you will find here :

Yes! I would like to fine a better Add On to download Facebook chat threads. I found "Message/Chat Downloader" which runs as an Extension in Chrome, but the font that prints is too Small. I don't know how to change the font size. I don't think you can.

There is another one called Messages Saver for Facebook," but I cannot change the dates on it. I would still like to know how to run an Add On in Firefox.

Add-ons for a browser like Google Chrome won't work in Firefox. You need extensions that are designed to work in the current Firefox release.

Yes, I know that, obviously. The reason I mentioned the Chrome extension is because I already tried two different tools for downloading chat. That's why I wanted to try this one. I am asking how to run an Add On in Firefox. I do not see an icon after installing it.

If you know of a better Add On for downloading Facebook Chat threads, please let me know. Thanks.

If you are satisfied with a screenshot then know that Firefox comes with a built-in feature to take full page a screenshot or via the Inspector you can also take a screenshot of a specific node via the right-click context menu in the left pane.

Otherwise you may be able to copy the text in the chat window to the clipboard and use the Scratchpad to save this text.
