How to remove a special websites from the Address Bar with normal methods
I have an address lingering as a suggested address: www02.eyny.com in location bar, which I have no idea what it is. I tried deleting it in the pull down menu, clearing the whole browse history, even reinstalling Firefox, but it is still there stubbornly. It is definitely not bookmarked, and I also tried privacy settings. It always come back if I check "History" for location bar. How to get rid of this annoying address?

Do you mean it appears in the address bar itself if you type a matching letter like w?
You could try using the "Forget About This Site" feature to scrub it more thoroughly out of Firefox's memory. However, I think you need to add at least one history entry for the site in order to do that, unless there is a method I don't know about.
View all your history using either:
- Ctrl+Shift+h
- History > Show All History
You can use the search box at the upper right to filter the list down to the unwanted site. Then carefully right-click a history entry for the site and choose Forget About This Site. I say carefully because there's no undo and it removes history, bookmarks, cookies, custom permissions, etc., related to that site.
Does that work?
If it comes back after that, could one of your extensions be accessing that site?? You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. All extensions are optional. If in doubt, disable.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Any improvement?
Thanks for trying to help solve the problem. I tried the first suggestion, and it did not work. Also I tried disabling all the extensions then restarted firefox, and it still did not work.
Does eyny show up in any preference values here:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste eyny and pause while the list is filtered
I'm not expecting there to be anything listed. But if there is, what is it? You can right-click > Copy the preference to get both its name and the value and then paste into a reply.

Tried this. There's nothing listed.
I can't think of any other reason for a site to appear in the address bar if you never visit it and have completely flushed it using Forget About This Site. Maybe someone else will have a suggestion.

Thanks for trying to help!
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.
