Are you able to configure this account to use IMAP?

You can't do that with a POP account. With POP only Inbox is visible for an email client. You'd need to set up your account again as an IMAP account. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Convert_a_POP_account_to_a_IMAP_account

Make sure to create a backup of your Thunderbird profile before you start messing with it. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data#w_backing-up-a-profile
