Here is a suggestion, but untested.

  1. Right-click the message.
  2. Select Edit As New
  3. Edit and send it again, using ctrl+enter.
  4. Delete the original from the Outbox.

You might want to reverse the order of the last two steps, to avoid any confusion about which is the preferred version of the message. You might want to save the new copy in Drafts, using File|Save As|Draft.
