ESR automatic update - URGENT

more options

It is vital to us to know the date when Firefox ESR will automatically update from current version 52.x to 60. We are using NPAPI plugins which must continue to work for some time in the future.

According to future releases blog, ESR 60.0 is released on May 8th, and on August 28th is end of life for ESR 52 and release of ESR 60.2.0 when no further updates will be offered for ESR52 and an update to ESR 60.2.0 will be provided through the application update service.

So, when will ESR AUTOMATICALLY start to update on version 60?

May 8th, August 28th or some other date?

Thanks, regards Ivica

This is explained on this page.

Does Mozilla provide an upgrade path between two ESR versions?

Yes, an ESR will be automatically upgraded to the subsequent ESR. System administrators can disable automatic updates by managing ESR through their deployment system. From a major version to the other (example: the 52 to 60 migration), the updates will be proposed only after the X.2.0 version is released. For example, users of 52 have been updated only when 60.2.0 has been published.

Thanks for the answer. Please verify to be 100% clear - according to facts stated here, Mozilla Firefox ESR 52.x will be automatically upgraded to version 60.2 not before August 28th 2018?

Release calendar shows August 21st as the release of 60.2.0 ESR, so I'm not 100% sure.

OK, important detail is that automatic update will not start at the beginning of May 2018. We have enough time until August 2018 when update is scheduled to begin. Thanks for help.
