I have received junk 3 emails in the last two days that have a blank or perhaps concealed sender address. I find no way to create a filter for such. I never want an email from someone who hides their email address. All three of these have Reply To addresses which end in .eu, e.g. "nrtahuvji2mgcvxtuu3hh5xiwsjxw90fcdrk9f16grci805tkvqd@batpc.olidsensory.eu". How can I block these? There is no option to block an email based on the Reply To contents.

Chosen solution

Try it with the dot removed from .eu, i.e. ends with eu. You can also test it by right-clicking the folder, Search Messages.... and using Reply-to in the search filter (add it with Customize... if it isn't already there).

You could create a filter that looks at the Reply-to header. Tools/Message Filters, New..., and click the criterion box with Subject, Customize..., and Add a new message header Reply-to. Then, the filter could be Reply-to + ends with + eu, and choose an appropriate action. To avoid filtering legitimate mail, you might want to first set the action to move to a folder rather than delete.

Seems straight forward enough, but I could not get the resulting filter to work. I tried adding new message headers of "Reply-to", "Reply to" (which is rejected with the blank being invalid), and just "Reply". In all cases I used it with "ends with" set to ".eu, but the messaged were not removed from my In box. I've read more about custom headers for filters and do not see anything I am doing wrong.

Removing the dot before eu had no effect -- still not filtering the emails. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. I do appreciate the help.

Did you try it with Search to confirm there are messages that satisfy the filter? Also, does it make any difference if you select 'after Junk classification' as in the attached picture? Does the filter work when run manually?

more options

1. Does not help to run after junk classification. 2. Does not find the messages when run manually either. 3. Search with "Reply-to" + "ends with" + "eu" does not find the messages. I'm sure search is run correctly because changing the criteria finds various messages as expected. My suspicion is that I am not defining the "Reply-to" correctly for examining a message header.

From Message Filters I select "New..." which has Manually Run and Getting New Mail (Filter before Junk Classification) both checked. Pull down Subject then Customize... . In New message header type and click Add then Ok. Back in Filter Rules pull down "Reply-to", then change "contains" to "ends with" and in the third field type "eu". Finally complete by selecting the disposition like "Delete Message" followed by Ok. I have lots of other filters, all of which work. But this one does not effect the messages in my In Box which have blank senders.

Urrrr!

more options

See the attached picture for a filter that works correctly here. The senders aren't blank, so I suggest you first test it on mail with non-blank senders, in case that's a factor. Make sure you have the filter defined to run on the Inbox for the relevant account, as filters are account-specific.

INTERESTING! Very good suggestion! When I edited the filter for Reply to ending with org it works; however, changing it back to Reply to ending with eu it again does not work. I'm suspecting something unusual in those message headers even though displaying the header does not present anything unusual that I see. Here it is:

The Reply-to ends with eu>, not eu. If you wish to filter on messages without a sender, From + doesn't contain + @ should work.
