I don’t want a search bar when i open up Firefox. I cannot find how to turn this off. i just want to type something in the URL space and go to it, not do a search.

Chosen solution

You can set the startup page to a blank page. Firefox no longer offers this choice as a possible startup choice, so you need to make the change directly to a pref on the about:config page.

You can set this pref to 2 on the about:config page.

  • browser.startup.page = 0
    (0:blank; 1:home page; 3:restore previous session)

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
