Hi !

I installed Thunderbird with 3 email accounts and am unable to download my emails on one particular notebook. My desktop and other notebook can still receive emails without any problems.

The windows version is 7 Home Premium and whilst checking the error console in the developers tools, I get the following error :

Can you run the computer in W7 safe mode and see if you still get timeouts? Also, the link in my first reply mentions an AV update was necessary to resolve the problem. Is there an impending update for your Avast?

Does this computer by any chance have Norton AV installed?

Hi ! Thanks for the guidance - I have Avast and I tried to disable both the AV and Firewall to see if mails can be retrieved...unfortunately, all I get is a timeout error...I deleted the passwords in the pop section, but it still is trying to retrieve the emails without asking for new passwords.....do I need to delete the smtp passwords too ?? sending out emails works fine and so, I did not delete the smtp passwords...

Please see attached snapshots for your easy reference

Wow - I just realized that I should have clicked connection security as TLS/SSL - it was showing as normal...as soon as I changed it, the emails started downloading....

Sorry for the trouble caused to all who had to read my tantrum email.....hope this solution helps others to overcome these hurdles in future

My problem was not with Windows 7 or Avast - it was a stupid mistake on my part for the connection security not being marked as TLS/SSL.....

I am grateful for all the assistance and guidance & have figured out the problem whilst reading the accounts setting against the online guidance for manual setup and realizing that there should be a connection security

Thanks for the support - much appreciated b/r H
