When I open my Optus email in Thunderbird (using IMAP) I am always asked for my G-mail un and pw . Only after cancelling this can I proceed. All my seetings seem to be correct. G-mail is not my default email.

did you configure a gmail calendar that you might be being asked for the credential for? Or configure your Gmail account in Thunderbird? Once added it is checked on every startup like all other accounts in Thunderbird.
