When I disable the enterprise policy, firefox will instantly try to update me to the latest version 71.0, but I only want to update to 69 or 70, but not 71.0, so how can I do that on an existing portable installation?

Chosen solution

Solution: Downloaded & Installed portable version of my choice into same directory of existing firefox browser. Launched and confirmed that all my about:config settings, enterprise policies and profile had indeed been preserved, but the version had indeed updated! Thank you!

If you are using Firefox Portable Edition from PortableApps.com - thy have their own support forum over here: http://portableapps.com/forums/support/firefox_portable

I am of no help as I haven't used Firefox Portable Edition since like Firefox 41 or thereabouts; older versions that didn't have very much in the way of enterprise policies.

The only way to update manually is via a suitable update.mar file, either a complete update or a partial update. I'm on Linux and can't install a portable Firefox version and I don't know how an update for this version works.

Here is a description for Firefox on desktop.

Why 69 or 70 but not 71?

Have you considered staying on the Extended Support Release of Firefox 68 with security patches?

I've considered ESR but then I can't upgrade ESR to the one I want I'd have to start again and copy over profile and then manually redo my about:config settings

I have the same question...

In Google chrome there is an option which controls the highest version that can be installed from the Internet.

So how can i control the version of Firefox in an enterprise with thousands of computers?
