I have Earthlink email account. I get my mail thru Thunderbird. I was having problems with duplicate mails on my earthlink webmail. I checked with earthlink support. They told me the problem was that I needed to go to Thunderbird and uncheck "leave messages on server" that will keep the duplicates from coming. I cannot find how to get setting for Thunderbird. When I go to app, it only lets me uninstall, but not modify. What do I do?

Probably not what Earthlink tells you it would appear. That might work with repeat downloads of the inbox on a pop mail account. but most Thunderbird accounts have been setup as the default IMAP in recent years.

Do you have your account set to use POP or IMAP protocols? What type of duplicates are they?

  • Many many repeats of the same thing?
  • Or your entire inbox duplicated?
  • Or something else?
