Google Chrome is closed and ive checked task manager to make sure that its not open in the background.

I choose my main account from google chrome and choose to import passwords and bookmarks and it says that it successfully imported it but my passwords and bookmarks are not showing up on mozilla.

You may have to export (from Google Chrome) the bookmarks as an .html file and the passwords as a .csv file then import those into Firefox.

You could check quite quickly whether there is a problem with your profile preventing you from importing the data by creating another profile.
