I'm running Thunderbird version 102.2.2 64bit on Gmail My OS is Ubuntu Linux version 18.04 64bit Kernel 5.4.0-131-generic Settings: Server name: imap.googlemail.com port 993 Connection security: SSL/TLS Authentication Method: OAuth2

My Gmail account has granted access to Mozilla Thunderbird Email

However, my Thunderbird program cannot send emails and requests the Google Gmail password when I try to send an email via Thunderbird. Giving the Gmail password does not resolve the issue and Thunderbird reports an authentication failure when I try the above to send the email message. Thunderbird is able to receive emails fine via my Gmail accounts. Any suggestions most welcome. Thanks in advance! Phil

try changing the server details to the ones Google have recommended since Gmail came out of beta. Change the googlemail to gmail as shown in this Thunderbird config XML file https://autoconfig.thunderbird.net/v1.1/google.com

Note that gmail basically only supports oauth authentication. Ensure that is what you are using, both for the incoming and outgoing servers.

What's the 'Authentication method' for the outgoing server? For Gmail it should be set to 'OAuth2'.
