This is from Mint if you are using their repository package builds and not the official tarballs from Mozilla. The Linux Firefox from Mint is a third-party build so Mint handles the Firefox updates.

Just a note, The desktop Firefox web browser for Linux can indeed handle its own internal updates (as blog posts implies otherwise), just only with the official builds from mozilla www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ . You just need to make sure the folder of where you extract the tarbal contents has read/write permissions for the user to do updates.
