After a recent catastrophic failure of my hard drive, I'm starting anew with a fresh install on Windows (102.5.1 64 bit). The install seemed to go fine, and adding accounts went fine, but Thunderbird is not displaying any folders or messages. This thread seemed to be closest to my problem, but the solutions that applied did not work, and the extended discussion seemed to diverge from my problem.

Problem: No folders or messages being displayed Details: - Accounts seem to be connected - I am getting pop up alerts when new messages come in - I CAN send emails using "Write" - This is a default install with no add-ons added yet, just trying to get startup functionality - using IMAP

Did you customize the toolbars? The Quick Filter Bar is not visible and some icons on the Mail Toolbar are missing. Did you make those changes?

more options

Nope, this is the default install with no customization. All I've done is add credentials to connect with two email accounts.

more options

Try Troubleshoot Mode Thunderbird and see if it loads normally. Also try Windows safe mode with networking.

more options

Update: Troubleshoot Mode didn't work, so I tried restarting in Safe mode with Networking and everything went bonkers with the OS (never even got to try Thunderbird in Safe mode).

I suspect there was some corruption in my recent windows reinstall, and the Thunderbird install problems were a symptom of that larger issue. After much wrestling with Windows, I ended up doing a clean install from media, and after that, the new Thunderbird install went well and is working smoothly.

more options

Exit Thunderbird

Right click on the Thunderbird shortcut icon and select 'Run as Administrator'

If this works, you should be able to start up Thunderbird as normal from now onwards.

Please report back on results.
