Firefox huge use of RAM is crashing my apps

Firefox is always using HUGE amount of my RAM with several window opened far more than my tabs.

But since the last update this has really got out of hand, crashing my apps. (Windows 10, 64 bit Desktop PC)

I work with media apps which DO require a lot of memory, such as Adobe Audition, and last night Audition first slowed down and then crashed while I was rushing to finish an urgent project.

I thought what the heck is going on - opened Task Manager - and lo and behold Firefox had several windows running taking up 85% of memory which I needed for my app!! I had only 5 -6 tabs opened in the browser - this is insane! every new update you release is more memory hungry - and I do NOT have ANY extensions and my computer is quite powerful designed for media work.

I found online advice to click on Minimise Memory button in about:memory - which I did.

But this should not be an OPTION which you have to guess how to disable! This has to be included in the Firefox SETTINGS!

So now, until you REDUCE this memory hunger I have to close the browser while working on my apps, or use another browser altogether.

Are there Firefox developers on this forum to reply?

There is no option to edit my own post - so I will say more here in a reply.

Activation of the Minimise Memory Button has very little effect. From 85% it went down to 72% which is still FAR too much. I can allocate no more than 50% of my RAM to the browser. I need another 50% to actually work in my media apps without crashing.

I have only 5 tabs opened and yet 19 Firefox Windows in Task Manager !!!!! which I DO NOT NEED!

Please advise how to NOT allow 19 windows to run for just 5 tabs

and please REDUCE significant;y the memory use in the next update - otherwise people wil simply be using other browsers.

thanks

still no reply - and Firefox is going crazy using up to 100% of my CPU to the point that I have to end some of the several tasks in the Task Manager as my CPU is overheating!

what is going on?

Could someone from Mozilla SUPPORT reply to this post please? or is my question too difficult to answer?

Still no one has replied to my question.

Firefox is still using HUGE amounts of my RAM and CPU - 95-100% with only 5 tabs in one widow open - which is UNACCEPTABLE

Is there a forum which the Firefox developers actually attend and answer your users' questions????

HOW can I fix this issue??
