After an hour Thunderbird won't download email and gives error: "Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox."

T-bird sometimes downloads email like normal. Often, perhaps an hour later it won't download email and gives me this message: Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox.

This may be related to an update, I don't know. It started in the last week and is annoying. I use T-bird exclusively because I like to save emails on my desktop.

Thank you... Dale Warren [removed email from public]

If you have a pop account, check the recycle bin to see if it is empty. Even if you can do it, compressing is sometimes helpful, but also the "Repair folder" via your right mouse button on the Inbox.(properties).

If you have an imap account, it may be that you have reached the maximum storage capacity of your provider, then cleaning up is highly desirable.

Any more solutions for this issue that MANY people have? It just started for me yesterday (no changes or updates we made, just started out of the blue!) and now I can no longer get emails via Thunderbird. I can get them on my iPhone but that's very inconvenient. No emails are coming into TB since yesterday morning! I can send though, just not receive.

This same problem started for me this morning. I've done the clear cache, repair folder to no avail.

I just started getting this annoying message yesterday. I have tried the suggested solutions but nothing has worked. I actually access 2 different email addresses both with the same Domain name and only ONE of them gives me this error. "Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox."

I have Tons of HD space, Tons of RAM, .. and well let's just say, I have thousands of dollars into this gaming machine. It's as good as they get. So it's not my PC and everything else works precisely as it should. Furthermore, everything is up-to-date including Thunderbird.

Thunderbird version 115.7.0 (64-bit)

I see this issue has come up for others over at least one year. I hope there is a solution and fast ?
