Is there a way to put a main password at Firefox startup that prevents unauthorised persons to use Firefox at all??

I thought at first that the Master Password was for that, it seems however its purpose is only to protect access to the saved sites passwords. I set it up and it did in fact ask me for a password at startup but with just 2 tries to close the window, the prompt went away and did not prevent me to use Firefox further. It eventually appeared again but the result was the same. How can i prevent unathorized people using Firefox right at startup?

Just make sure that others can't use your Windows account, so make sure you protect this account with a password that you only know. Create Windows guest accounts for others and set restrictions on which applications they can use. That is the way to proceed as it is easy to bypass the password protection you are talking about as it is easy to bypass like with using a different profile folder or a browser like Firefox portable.
