Chosen solution

There is usually a toolbar button in the editor to turn a text link into a clickable hyperlink (look for a chain like button).
You can select the text and click that button to turn the link into a clickable hyperlink.
If you can't find the button then hover them all to check the tooltip of each.

Found it. Thanks so much!

I don't understand why it won't work like it did before, but I'll live with it.

Sorry I don't understand this. I can't find anywhere called Editor or toolbar buttons that look like a chain. Sorry if I'm being obtuse, but Firefox is new to me and I find that this inability to post hyperlinks is making me go back to IE although I'd prefer to continue with Firefox.

The text editor is the textarea that you use on the webmail (Yahoo, Hotmail) website to compose a new mail.

Compare that with the "Post a Reply" textarea that you use to write a new post on this forum.

Just above the textarea that you use to enter the message text there is usually a button bar with buttons to add text formatting like Bold and Italic.

This button bar can also include a button to turn a link into a clickable hyperlink.

Check the tooltip of each button by hovering with the mouse over each button.

My problem is that I have the text above the area that I type but the Hyperlink button and a few of the others are missing. The only thing that shows up are the font choices. The others are there, (invisible) but unless I run the pointer over the blank area I can't see them at all, the text or Icons are not showing. How do I get them to be visible? Such as the icons above this text box.
