When I open a link into a new tab, I want to stay on the original page and have the new tab open in the background. I do NOT want to go to the new tab immediately. How oo I do that?

Tools > Options > Tabs: [ ] "When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately"

There are extension that can cause this not to work properly.
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
