Bookmarks Toolbar completely narrows the address bar when placed on the same line?

more options

Via right click --> customize, its clear anything can be moved. that is a strength of firefox. I am trying to get rid of a 2nd row by moving the Bookmarks Toolbar onto the line with the Address bar. When doing so the address bar is reduced to a 2 letter width at most. I cannot find a way to make ti work, with the spaces and flexible space. It doesn't matter. Even though the movement is allowed, did Firefox not intend for this to be done? I really don't need a 12 inch address bar and want to have my bookmarks next to it.

Also, I saw some really old post about setting a width in userchrome.css but I don't have that on my computer. I've been a long time user of firefox and uninstalled verision3.xx and previous v4.beta and only have files pertaining to FF4RC1 installer.

You need to create the userChrome.css file yourself, or edit the name of the example file.
Or you can install the ChromEdit Plus extension.
