I have spent several days having to start in firefox safe mode in order to get the menu toolbar (the file, edit, bookmarks, etc). Apparently many others have the same problem. There was no one in at the chat at about 2:30 today.

Then in trying to use one of the automated responses I inadvertently changed my home page from Verizon to Mozilla Firefox. I don't want this, I want to get back to Verizon coming up when I click on the Firefox icon.

To make Verizon your home page, first go to the page you want as your start page. Then check out the methods described in this article: How to set the home page | How to | Firefox Help.

Any luck?

Thanks so much - I did get my home page back. So far, unfortunately, no luck on the menu bar except to keep starting in safe mode. Annoying but functional.

Sorry I missed your question on the menu bar.

In Firefox 5, you usually have a choice between the orange Firefox button (abbreviated menus) and the classic menu bar. You should be able to lock in the classic menu bar if you do this:

tap the Alt key, then View > Toolbars > check Menu Bar

If that doesn't stick, you can reset your toolbars.

tap the Alt key, then View > Toolbars > Customize

In the large Customize dialog, below the various icons, click "Restore Default Set".

Hopefully that will stick.

Alas. Thanks for trying, but neither alternative worked. However, as long as I can use safe mode I get the toolbar. I'm wondering whether the age of my computer is a factor - it's going to be replaced sometime in the next few months.
