When you right click on a tab, you have to option to save the tab as an application. When I have pinned some tabs they can be seen on the left of the toolbar. When I close down it just reminds me that I am closing multiple tabs. When I reopen firefox the pinned apps that I saved have disapeared. They used to work ok but now don't. Also in previous versions of Firefox when you were closing down it used to ask if you wanted to keep the open tabs for next time. This dosn't happen anymore. I thought it was a usefull feature. Best regards Tom porritt.

In most cases of this I've seen, the cause is one of these:
1. You have Firefox set to clear your browsing history when you close it; this will kill your app tabs
2. You have more than one window open and you close the one with app tabs first; this will make Firefox assume you wanted them gone

Also see this - Firefox does not ask to Save Tabs and Windows on Exit

Check and tell if its working.

Why the heck would it assume that?? Does that make an iota of sense?

My pinned tabs occasionally will disappear. This has been happening through several versions, and I'm on version 6 right now. It may well be this #2 that's causing it. Bottom line: It's unexpected and disconcerting behavior to the user, particularly considering how long it has been happening.

App (pinned) tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data [1] in the file sessionstore.js [2] in the Firefox profile folder [3].

Make sure that you do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Browsing History" when Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.

It is also possible to use the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" setting, that is usually a more reliable way to restore session data.
