This article on backing up and restoring bookmarks should explain how to backup bookmarks (and restore them later).

Thanks for your reply..! However, I have already read that help acticle while Firefox was open and even tried the procedure show there. but when I went to where I selected to send them "desktop" they were not there............so, I don't think that's a good way, wouldn't you agree. Thanks again Matt2

Anyone know of a better way to getter done...?

You can either create a JSON backup or an HTML backup.

A JSON backup uses a native format and is not human readable, but stores annotations and tags.

  • Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Backup

An HTML backup is an ordinary HTML file that can be opened in Firefox as well via File > Open File

  • Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Export HTML
