Just installed FF7, on a brand new VM (WinXP32), so it has no prior FF code on it. Things seem to be working okay, but there is no setting for turning on the Status Bar. My other PCs all have FF 3.6.xx and Status Bar is available from the View menu item. Scanning the forum here, I see that the Status Bar has been an issue since the version 4 upgrade. Since I had too many problems with the newer versions, I always went back to 3.6. I don't think it a good idea to have to rely on a plug-in (add-on, etc.) in order to get a status bar for a browser. I use the status bar to verify url integrity, check for errors on web pages I build, and for Security, XMarks, and Yahoo Mail Notifier. The better memory management (which does seem to be working for me) is nice, but without a status bar, I'm gonna stay on 3.6 (even if it is due to be dropped from support).

I swear - this page did not show up during my lengthy searches the other day... but here is a fantastic page about how to get what we want, just in the new way -- without having to install an add-on. https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/what-happened-status-bar

URL Preview - hovering over a link makes a little popup appear down below (where status bar use to be.

Add-On Notifications - in the view Toolbars menu, select Add-On Bar. Now everything is back the way I like it.

Now to get the Right-Click Open in new Tab menu in the original order again (without an add-on)... but that's a different thread.
