My Firefox browser lets me sign in for google mail, but wont let me sign in on google toolbar, a firefox popup comes up & when I click it then dissapears to quickly to click the allow button

I would seriously recommend you upgrade Firefox. Later versions of Firefox has all the beloved features of it's predecessors and much more. They are also more stable.

Google changed the logon URL for various services and the Google Toolbar is trying to logon to the wrong domain. Google isn't going to be fixing the Google Toolbar add-on for Firefox, they announced back in July that they were discontinuing it for Firefox 5.0 and later versions.
