Several versions of Firefox crash on startup, even in safe mode. Tried Aurora too, and it crashes. Did a clean uninstall and re-installed Firefox 11. It crashes on startup. "Default Browser" dialogue comes up each time, then the application won't respond, followed by a crash and the bug report prompt.

Presumably you have already read firefox crashes.

I do not know much at all about Macs, but as no one else has answered yet I thought I would have a stab at it.

I see mention of carboncore in the crash report, and only know that appears to be part of the Mac OS.

The only suggestion (in addition to following troubleshooting and updating advice in firefox crashes) I can make is that you try to create and use a new profile.

On a fresh install of Firefox 14 on my Windows 7 desktop, it just crashes and never opens even once. This has never happened before in the history of using Firefox, but has began with random Flash crashes in 13, and now is unusable in 14.

If you use Flash Player consider disabling it for now as it has known problems.
