My son turned my new tab page off completely and I would like to know how to get it back?

When I click on a new tab my "most visited" sites are no longer displayed. The toggle button to hide or show my "most visited" sites is also gone when I click on a new tab. Since he is at school right now I can only assume that he decided he could turn the new tab page off and when he got there and saw the option to "turn this feature off completely" he did! I'm spittin' nails here! I liked and used the "most visited sites" feature every time I used my computer! Can you help me to turn that feature back on? I was also wondering if there was some way to send a small electrical current into anyone who tries to change my settings on my computer?

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.
  3. In the Filter textbox, enter newtab. You should find several browser.newtab settings.
  4. If any of these are bold, right-click them and select Reset.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
