It used to be possible to download the full package but now the download is only 274KB. Why? I used to download the full package for install on more than one desktop.

Chosen solution

^Not sure why you need to post the Beta and Aurora Test builds links also when the OP just needed the link to full setup ofRelease.

aliashh, to find the https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html in future just look for the "Systems & Languages" link under the green download button on www.mozilla.org

Commonly referred to as "thinking outside the box." The OP may want to test Beta and/or Aurora. In addition, other users reading this thread, may want to know where to download the full installer for Beta and/or Aurora. Those questions are now answered by my post. OK??

James,

My question to you: Why did you find it necessary to re-post a link to the download page that I had already posted?

Think about it and read the in future part, you never told the OP where to find this link ;)

Aurora especially is more meant for testers and devs or at minimum those who understand the basics of separate installs and separate Profiles for each (same Profile should not be shared between Release and Aurora for example) and especially that Aurora gets updates almost everyday

Answer: I am well aware of the differences in the channel versions. If the OP wanted a link to one of the other channels, then the OP is likely aware of the nuances as well. I have been using Mozilla products for many years, possibly for longer than you have been able to type.

Answer: The "all" download pages are kept currently updated. Has not failed me yet. Prior to the establishment of the "all" download pages, it was necessary to go to the the ftp pages to find some. No need to send a user to a page where the user needs to click another link to get to the proper page.

As for your origianl reply, the original question was:

It used to be possible to download the full package but now the download is only 274KB. Why? I used to download the full package for install on more than one desktop."
  1. Nowhere does the user specify Release, Beta or Aurora, Hence, I gave links to all three. The assumption on your part that the OP is requesting the Release version, and only the Release version, could very well be an error on your part.
  2. OP said "...the full package for install on more than one desktop" indicates that the OP could be a system admin, maybe or maybe not. Therefore, the OP could have reason to (and understand the nuances of the channel versions) and need more that just the Release version to use and or test on various systems.
  3. As I stated previously, posting all 3 links that I initially posted would give other users reading this thread looking for any of the channels (except Nightlies), an indication of where to find them.
  4. I did not answer the portion about the new stub installer as I find that a bit outdated with most users having high speed connections and the download time for the 20MB or so full installer is mere seconds. IMHO, the development time and money spent on the stub installer was wasted and could have been used more wisely.

That is "thinking outside the box."

Hopefully, you understand my reasoning for answering as I did in my initial response. If you do not, then..............

Gentlemen,

Enough with the arguing back and forth between the two of you. Please take this discussion to the Contributors forum, and leave this thread for support of the Owners question.

If anybody started and is picking a fight it is TheOldFox. I mean am not sure why he is so annoyed about me pointing out where the OP can find the https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html page again in future as most people posting here about this link will mention the simple steps on where to find it. I simply pointed out how to find this page for the benifit of both the OP and anybody else who finds this thread in future.

If the poster knew about the Beta, Aurora or even Nightly builds then the OP would have very likely mentioned about one those instead as people would assume the OP was referring to Release being the 99 percent probability based on my long time of support experience.

Answer: No need to send a user to a page where the user needs to click another link to get to the proper page.

Let's say the OP needs the link for this Fully localized versions page again. So you think it is more efficient for this OP to come back here and ask where to find this link and wait for a reply or to spend time on a search engine looking for it instead of just simply typing www.mozilla.org then click on this Systems & Languages link. If you do then no wonder why you responded the way you did each time.

I never mentioned anything about the Fully localized versions page being kept updated for Releases and such so I wonder why you even mentioned that.

I have probably used at least a few thousand more Nightly builds (of the browser we know as Firefox) then you but whatever.

Anyways apologies to aliashh for continuing what TheOldFox started in his ahem reasoning.
