Once my computer begins installing Firefox, it says "Firefox has stopped working..." How do I fix this issue?
Basically, I've been having some issues with my computer lately... I've been thinking maybe there's been some registry problems or DEP problems. But anyways, if I try to install Firefox/Chrome, it basically says "Firefox has stopped working.." I click cancel, and I get the error: "The program has an encountered an error 0xc0000005." Any idea for a possible fix?

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Hi cor-el, I've tried most of these programs out and removed a handful of adware/spyware. However, the problem still persists. Now, I've been getting error 255 on google chrome if that helps any (I know, wrong forum, I just thought it might help). So pretty much nothing's changed too much. Any other ideas as to what the problem might be? Thanks for the help so far.
Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
I was having the same problem, I fixed just right clicking > Properties > Compatibility > Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)
