How do I enter my old 25 digit recovery key in my new Firefox install?

I had installed Nightly but it had problems, so I uninstalled it. It asked it I wanted to save preferences - "In case I wanted to reinstall Nightly", but I had Firefox already loaded and it had all of my bookmarks and passwords, so I didn't. When I opened FF, (v23.0.1) it had all been erased. I have my 25 digit sync key on my backup drive, but there is nowhere to enter it to sync the open program on my computer. It wants 12 digits, or to send the key to another computer.

How can I enter my old key in my current version and get my information back?

hello Sheldoni, go to firefox > options > sync > set up sync > i have an account > i don't have the device with me - there you can pair your existing account with your username, password & recovery key.

That probably would have gotten it, if I had been able to remember which of my dozen email addresses I used to set up my account originally. And with all of that info gone....

I did manage to find my backed up files and restore by drag and drop, but not before restoring the system to a week ago, as my friend suggested. THat did nothing except lose my Windows patches. :(

Thanks!
